Over 10 years of teaching mindfulness to college-aged adults.
The Koru Mindfulness® program was developed over the course of a decade by psychiatrists Holly Rogers, MD & Margaret Maytan, MD to bring the benefits of mindfulness to the college students they worked with at Duke University’s student counseling center.
Rossana is certified to teach the Koru Mindfulness curriculum.
Koru Mindfulness® program is committed to understanding what works and adjusting and improving the program accordingly. We have completed a randomized, controlled trial of Koru. Some of the results are:
- Less stress: Students reported feeling calmer.
- More mindful: Students improved their mindfulness.
- Better sleep: Students felt more rested.
- Less self-judgment: Students had greater self-compassion
Rossana Counseling offers all three components of the curriculum:
KORU BASIC: An introduction to mindfulness and meditation. Taught as a weekly, 75-minute class over four weeks.
KORU 2.0: An “advanced” class for students who have competed Koru Basic and are eager for more mindfulness. This course also consists of weekly, 75-minute classes taught over four weeks.
KORU RETREAT: A half-day silent, mindfulness retreat for students wanting to try a more intense mindfulness experience.
